The Power of the Cross sanctifies us from the hold of sin over us, and the hunger for sin within us.
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. Galatians 5:17
Environment does not pollute us, we pollute the environment.
The three greatest sins committed by Christians today that keep them from experiencing the abundance of God’s Blessings and bringing curses upon nations.
Materialism (Lust of the eyes)
Lust (Lust of the flesh)
Religion (the Pride of Life)
For everything in the world— the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — comes not from the Father but from the world.
1 John 2:16
The lust of the eyes, wanting Money, wealth, financial gain, position, status, power, possessions, attention, recognition, are not from God
We already have all those, in our relationship with Christ.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8
He has given you everything you need and the greatest gift of All…
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Stop wanting the things of the world.
The MOST important thing to remember First is:
To be satisfied with what you have already…
Be Thankful and grateful for the smallest things (Life, having sight, hearing, mobility, health, family, food)…
Recognise the difference between ‘WANTS‘ and ‘NEEDS‘…
STOP desiring the things that the world promotes.
- A new car (fix the old one)
- New clothes (are the ones you’ve got worn out)
- A bigger house (do you not have enough rooms for everyone)
- A Promotion (to get more money, to buy more things)
Desire these things:
for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Then he will
Take delight in the Lord , and he will give you the desires of your heart.
God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honour, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honour, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.”
2 Chronicles 1:11 – 12
The lust of the flesh is:
Adultery, rape, molestation, sexually forcing your partner, pornography, sexual immorality, sexual promiscuity, sex before marriage.
Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Religion is people having the pride of life.
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
Thinking that they know more than someone else.
Remaining unteachable and unchangeable.
Believing that they know more about God, than someone else.
Being Arrogant prideful, having haughty eyes, unmerciful, unloving, lacking empathy and compassion and belittling people with differing opinions or views.
Looking down on those, they believe do not know as much as them.
Judging others by what they do in their lives, including being gay or having an abortion.
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:
- haughty eyes,
- a lying tongue,
- hands that shed innocent blood,
- a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,
- a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
People protesting against Gays and abortions are stiring up conflict in the community and in no way showing God’s Love…
Being Gay, having an abortion and everything else we sinners do, is between each individual and God..
God will judge them…
– and you…
so you need not judge…
What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
1 Corinthians 5:12
You are to keep the Brethren accountable…
What gives you the right to do this, and argue with those people.
When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them.
Look at yourselves…
That’s who you should be judging.
Our job is to share the word of God, then allow him and the Holy Spirit change a person from the inside out…
Our condemnation turns people away from God, not towards him…
Love, support, teach and encourage people, while the Holy Spirit is working in their lives…
Look at the motives of your own heart and look at your own lives.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
“You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!
You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgement for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
This is what the Religion of God is:
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.
